Cooking over a fire is as old as mankind, but that doesn't mean wood cookstoves have to be stuck in the past. Hearthstone's Deva 100 features an oven large enough to cook a 20-pound turkey with a thermostat precise enough to handle cakes and pastries.
The modern burner surface is vitreoceramic, the same durable, easily cleaned material featured on smooth top electric ranges. A large oven window allows you to monitor the progress of your baking without opening the door.
Like all of this manufacturer's wood stoves, the Deva 100 is non-catalytic, making maintenance easier. A single air intake makes for simple and consistent cooking temperatures, according to the manufacturer.
The stove requires no electricity, so it's suitable for off-the-grid installations.
The 1.6 cubic foot firebox with glass viewing door holds 32 pounds of logs up to 17” long.
Certified for use in alcoves, the stove can vent from the top or rear. It requires a metal or masonry chimney with a dedicated flue.
Ashes drop into a separate ash pan, accessed through its own door. Empty ashes once a week or more often, depending on use.
The Deva 100 comes in one color only, a shiny black enamel baked over cast iron. Trim is polished nickel and chrome.
You won't want to move this stove around once it's installed – it weighs close to 500 pounds.
