Perfect for small spaces, the Morso Squirrel 1410 model burns wood or naturally compressed wood briquettes. It's also available as a coal stove.
Many small wood stoves are plain black boxes, but the Squirrel has a viewing window kept clean by an air wash system.
While the embossed squirrel design on the cast iron sides adds charm, the small stove is more than pretty. It can churn out 30,000 BTUs per hour, enough to heat up to 1,000 square feet of space depending on insulation and outside temperature. It can also be damped down enough to heat a much smaller space.
A shaker grate and easily removable ash pan make clean-up easier. The stove is equipped with rear and bottom heat shields.
The non-catalytic combustion system greatly increases fuel efficiency and dramatically reduces harmful emissions, says the manufacturer. It also makes it easier to maintain.
