The WIN 100 programmable outlet thermostat eliminates the wait and saves electricity to boot. Plug it into a standard 120-volt outlet, then plug your heater or air conditioner into the thermostat. The plug-in thermostat comes programmed with heating and cooling cycles that can save 33 percent on electricity bills, says the manufacturer. Or program in your own settings. The thermostat can store separate weekday and weekend settings. A switch allows for temporary manual overrides of the settings. It can be used with all manually controlled air conditioners and heaters, and with electronic air conditioners that automatically restart after power interruption. It cannot be used with electronically controlled heaters. You'll need a plug-in thermostat for each air conditioner or heater you want to control.
