Go to the store in the morning and have a remodeled bathroom by evening – if you live near one of Swedish giant IKEA's mega stores.
Like all of the retailer's products, the Freden/Hollviken vanity cabinet and sink comes as a knock-down module. That may not put it in the category of fine furniture, but it does make it easy for a homeowner with average skills to assemble.
In addition to the vanity, you'll need to purchase a faucet and strainer ($70) and a flexible line trap to complete assembly. With the vanity ($270), the complete package is less than
$350.
One nice feature of this vanity is that the vanity box, door frame and panel are solid pine. The back panel is fiberboard, however. The included sink is ceramic rather than the cultured marble used with most of IKEA's other vanities.
The only finish available for this vanity is a black semi-transparent stain.
A full line of coordinating mirrors, storage units and even a black wooden toilet seat are available from $20 to $150.
