Faucets that turn on and off automatically have become so common in public restrooms that I sometimes find myself standing stupidly in front of a manual fixture waiting for the water appear.
If commercial establishments have embraced these convenient water-saving faucets, can the residential market be far behind? Apparently not, as Danze and other introduce automatic hands-free faucets for the kitchen. And not a moment too soon for the young lady in this photo.
Danze's Parma faucet has a sensor at the spout base which turns on water. The flow stops when you put your hand in front of the sensor again, or when the timer runs out. You can set the timer and the water temperature yourself with controls that are hidden under the sink. Hardwire the faucet into the same power source as your garbage disposal, or run it on batteries. Power outage and run down batteries? You can still work the faucet manually.
The three-hole mount set includes a side sprayer.
The faucet is surprisingly affordable with a prices from various online merchants ranging from $413 to $529. That's not exactly a bargain priced faucet, but the cost is comparable to other name brand solid brass and stainless faucets without the whiz-bang technology.
