This vividly colored medallion is part of a new Modern Ornamentation collection of wallpapers inspired by the late 19th century designer Christopher Dresser.
A designer, botanist and pivotal figure in industrial design, Dresser was part of the Aesthetic school of design. Bold designs and colors were accented with metallics and were the height of fashion in Victorian England and North America.
This rosette and 13 other patterns from the collection are borrowed from Dresser's 1886 pattern book "Modern Ornamentation."
