Learn more about Marvin Windows and Doors:
by Deborah Holmes, Ebricks.com
Big picture windows seem like a great idea for homes with million-dollar views -- until the sun comes streaming through and the room becomes an oven with a view.

Designers have solved the problem over the years by surrounding picture windows with smaller, opening windows or by using sliding doors. The small windows can obstruct the view; the sliders look more like what they are -- doors, not windows. Marvin's venting picture window provides a nice solution without compromising the view or design.

Ergonomically designed handles operate the stainless sliding mechanism that projects the windows sash 2-1/4" outwards. The resulting full-perimeter opening is enclosed with a non-removable factory-installed fiberglass. Fresh air can come in, stale air can egress and insects stay where they belong -- outside.

Because the entire sash projects outward, the view remains consistent. The window looks the same whether open or closed. (The window in the photo is open.)

The venting picture window is available in many sizes up to 6 feet by 6 feet. Choose from 19 exterior clad-aluminum finishes or a wood exterior. Five wood species are offered for the inside finish. The sash itself is made of fiberglass-wrapped reticulated foam encasing insulated glass. The window is resistant to mold, mildew and ultraviolet rays.
